Fibre content labelling in Switzerland
In 1970, the Swiss Textile Declaration was adopted by agreement between the textile industry federations and consumer organisations. The primary occasion for this was the distinction between wool and pure new wool in the interest of fairness. A vast number of rapidly growing fibre brands for synthetic fibres, which the consumer could no longer understand, were added.
In 1986, the rules adopted by the EU for textile labelling were accepted on a voluntary basis for Switzerland. These national guidelines are constantly adjusted in line with changes in the EU.
