Fibre content labelling
In Switzerland, fibre content labelling as well as care labelling are not prescribed by law and are therefore voluntary.
If the raw materials are indicated, the following points must be noted:
- To avoid any lack of clarity, fibre names may not be abbreviated on the label. This, because abbreviations are not easy understandable. As there are no officially harmonised abbreviations, these may vary from one industry to another and may only be used for internal purposes.
- For the correct fibre content labelling, you should comply with the official table of textile fibres pursuant to the EU directive. This lists the numbering and the exact names used for the respective fibres.
